Wrong MS-DOS Version Is Displayed in Compaq Diagnostics (226140)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade a Compaq computer from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 to Windows 2000, you may note that the MS-DOS version displayed in the Compaq Diagnostics program is Windows NT DOS 5.0.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you upgrade from the Compaq OEM version of Windows NT 4.0 that Compaq installed on their laptop computers.

MORE INFORMATION

The MS-DOS version information is not displayed in Compaq Diagnostics version 2.x.
