SYMPTOMS

When you move to a new record on a data access page, (AutoNumber) does not automatically appear in AutoNumber and Identity fields.

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft Access automatically puts a number into this field when you save the record. You cannot select this field and type a number that could affect the integrity of your data.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

CAUTION: If you follow the steps in this example, you modify the sample database Northwind.mdb. You may want to back up the Northwind.mdb file and follow these steps on a copy of the database.

  2. In the Database window, click Pages under Objects, and then click New.
