ACC2000: Can't Change Form Properties In Open Form When Modal Property is Set to Yes (225858)

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

If you set the Modal property of a form to Yes in Form view of a form, you cannot change any other properties of the form or back out of changing the Modal property to Yes.

CAUSE

When a form becomes modal, it will not allow you to select anything else that is open, including its property sheet.

RESOLUTION

Change the form to Design view.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Open the sample Access database file Northwind.mdb or the sample Access project file NorthwindCS.adp.
  2. Open a new form in Design view.
  3. View the form in Form view.
  4. View the properties of the form.
  5. On the Other tab, set the Modal property to Yes.
Note that you can no longer change any properties of the form, including the Modal property.
