SUMMARY

If you install or upgrade to Windows 2000 on a Hewlett-Packard (HP) OmniBook computer with a Synaptics touchpad, the touchpad does not work when the installation is complete.

MORE INFORMATION

With the software package for the Synaptics touchpad installed during an upgrade to Windows 2000, there is no mouse functionality at all. Once the Windows 2000 upgrade is finished, there is still no mouse functionality. If you try to install a standard mouse, you receive an error message in Mouseclass.sys at the next reboot. Reinstalling the Synaptics touchpad software does not restore functionality in Windows 2000.
