PUB2000: Missing First Character in Text Box While Using Windows NT (225199)

While you are using Microsoft Publisher on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows NT, you may notice that the first character that you type does not appear.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if all of the following conditions are true: - You are running Publisher on Microsoft Windows NT.
- You closed or canceled the Microsoft Publisher Catalog and started with a blank publication without any text frames.
- You immediately began to type in the publication.
WORKAROUND
To resolve this problem, use any one of the following methods.
Method 1
While you are in the Microsoft Publisher Catalog, you can select either Publications by Wizards or Publications by Design and begin typing your information into an existing text frame.
Method 2
You can select the Blank Publications tab, select the desired layout, press the Space Bar, and begin typing your text.
Method 3
While you are in a blank publication, on the Objects toolbar, click Text Frame and draw a text frame on the page. You can begin typing your text.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
