This article was previously published under Q225198 SUMMARY
When you use FrontPage 2000 to manage collections of Word 2000 documents, only a specific type of file category is recognized in both FrontPage and Word. This article explains how to use file categories in a way that is available to both applications.
MORE INFORMATION
If you assign categories using FrontPage, they will be visible within Word through the Custom tab of the File Properties dialog box under the heading Categories. If you assign categories to a document using Word and you want FrontPage to be able to read the category information, you must enter the categories in a semicolon delimited list of entries under a custom text category labeled "Categories".
NOTE: The names of the categories are case-sensitive.
The Word document must be saved to the Web location using HTTP or imported to the Web. If you save the file using Word to a disk location within a FrontPage Web, the Category list may not get updated within FrontPage.
To save a Word file to an HTTP location, click Save As on the File menu in Word, and then select the location you want from within the Web Folders portion of the Save As dialog box.
If you save the Word document to a disk location outside the Web, click Import on the File menu in FrontPage 2000, and then select the Word document from its disk location to bring the document into the FrontPage Web.
If you have already saved the Word document to a disk location within a FrontPage Web, you will see the categories added only after you close the Word document and recalculate hyperlinks on the Web.
