You receive a "There is not enough memory to complete this operation" error message when you open an unpacked publication in Publisher 2000 (225069)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Publication that has been unpacked using the Microsoft Publisher Pack and Go feature, you may receive the following error message after you click OK to close the Load Fonts window:
There is not enough memory to complete this operation. To make more memory available, close other programs, and try again.
When you click OK, the publication will not open.

CAUSE

One or more fonts that have been embedded in the publication do not conform to the TrueType standard, and cannot be used in their embedded state.

RESOLUTION

When you open the publication, do not load the embedded fonts.
  1. In the Load Fonts window, select a font that is listed as Status: Embedded.
  2. Click Don't Load to avoid using the embedded font information.
  3. Repeat this process for each embedded font.
