Prompted to Use Manage Server Tool When Adding License (225027)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start License Manager from a command prompt or from the Licensing tool in Control Panel, you may receive the following error message:
Title: Licensing or License Manager

Not available in Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server. To add client licenses, choose Manage Server from the Start Menu and select About Small Business Server.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because client licenses are added by using the Small Business Server (SBS) console.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the SBS console to add client licenses. To do so, start the SBS console, click Small Business Server To Do List on the SBS Console Home Page, and then click Add User Licenses.
