OL2000: File Attachment Lost When Editing Message (224908)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor, and edit an HTML message containing an attachment by clicking Edit Message on the Edit menu, and then attempt to send the message, the attachment is not forwarded with the edited message.

CAUSE

When you use Word as your e-mail editor and edit an HTML message by clicking Edit Message on the Edit menu, Word opens the message as a new Word document. This strips all header information and attachments from the message.

RESOLUTION

Open the message and click Forward before editing the text of the original message, or copy and paste the attachment from the original message into the new message.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
