SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to import a vCalendar file that contains a recurring appointment, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Microsoft Outlook
Operation Failed.

-or-

Microsoft Outlook
Cannot import vCalendar file.

CAUSE

The vCalendar file may contain an unsupported recurrence pattern, such as hourly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Outlook supports appointments with recurrent patterns of Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly with several different variations of each.
