WD2000: Cannot Create Multiple Values in a Drop-Down Box Form Control (224753)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Web Tools toolbar (on the View menu, under Toolbars) to create a drop-down box form control, and you attempt to add multiple display values to the drop-down box, the properties that are required to add multiple values are not displayed.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because multiple display values in a drop-down box need to be set programmatically.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Double-click the drop-down box in your document.
  2. In the Properties dialog box, click to select DisplayValues, and then press F1.
  3. In the Microsoft Word Help dialog box, click Show, and then click Contents.
  4. Double-click Microsoft Forms Design Reference.
  5. Double-click List Boxes, Text Boxes, and Combo Boxes.
  6. Double-click Add items to a list using the List or Column property.
  7. Follow the Help instructions to add list items to your drop-down box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Word 2000.
