WD2000: Numbering Not Maintained When You Use "Restart Numbering" and "Continue Previous" Options (224736)

SYMPTOMS

When you create outline numbering lists associated with heading styles, your numbering settings may be lost when you use the Restart numbering and Continue previous list options.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, work from the bottom to the top of your numbered list to restart numbering where required.

To restart numbering, follow these steps:
  1. Click into the list item you want to restart.
  2. On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering.
  3. Click to select Restart numbering and then click OK.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
