This article was previously published under Q224690 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Word 2000, when you point to Toolbars on the View menu to show the menu of available toolbars, the Envelope toolbar is not one of the choices. This behavior also occurs if you right-click a toolbar to display the Toolbars menu.
CAUSE
The Envelope toolbar is not a toolbar but instead a part of the User Interface (UI) that appears when you open an e-mail message from Word. For example, when you click the E-mail button on the Standard toolbar in Word, the UI changes and Word displays the Envelope toolbar.
This toolbar functions differently from standard Word toolbars. For example, you cannot customize it by adding or deleting buttons. You cannot turn it off by clearing the Envelope check box on the Toolbars tab in the Customize dialog box. And you cannot undock the toolbar.
RESOLUTION
To display the Envelope toolbar, use either of the following methods:
- Click the E-mail button on the Standard toolbar.
-or- - On the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Mail Recipient.
