This article was previously published under Q224555 SYMPTOMS
When you use the Microsoft Force Feedback Pro joystick together with any of the Microsoft programs listed in the "Applies to" section, the Return To Center force is disabled. However, the Return To Center force functions correctly on the Test Forces tab in the Game Controllers tool in Control Panel. Also, the joystick handle may drop left or right and lose tension instead of being straight.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because some games disable the Return To Center force to allow you to feel subtle forces such as wind or a stall, and to duplicate the feel of a plane's joystick or yoke, which in real life does not return to center automatically.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
