SYMPTOMS

When Netbt.sys parses through an LMHOSTS file that contains #DOM entries, a STOP 0x0000000A error message may be displayed.

CAUSE

NETBT allocates a buffer for domain entries, yet does not zero out the allocated area, causing code manipulation of invalid data.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5.
