When you try to edit a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) file with Microsoft Word 97 for Windows by clicking Edit in Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word 2000 may start instead. Note that this may occur even if you have previously configured Word 97 for Windows to be your default HTML editor.
CAUSE
This issue can occur because Word 2000 becomes your default HTML editor when you install it.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, open HTML files in Word 97 for Windows.
