Err Msg: Cannot Copy File: Cannot Read from the Source File or Disk (224378)

SYMPTOMS

If you right-click a file and then click Copy in a client Terminal Server session, switch to your local computer's desktop, and then attempt to past the file, you receive the following error message:
Cannot copy file: cannot read from the source file or disk.

CAUSE

Windows 2000 Terminal Services supports Clipboard redirection between a client's local computer and a server session. File transfer, however, is not supported via the Clipboard.

RESOLUTION

In order to get file copy to work with Windows 2000 Terminal Server, you need to install the File Copy Tool which is included with the Windows 2000 Resource Kit.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
