ERROR MESSAGE

When you reference hyperlinks in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), the following error message may occur:
Cannot download the information you requested.

CAUSE

This error message may occur for one of the following reasons. See the "What to Try" section for the resolution that applies to your situation:
  • You are using one of the following VBA methods:
    • Doc.FollowHyperlink
    • Hyperlink.Follow
    • Document.Reload

-or-

  • There is a problem downloading the file from the Web site you are opening due to one of the following reasons:
    • The filename or path may not be valid.
    • You are trying to open is being used by another program.

THINGS TO TRY

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
  • Open the file directly to confirm that the file name and location are correct.
  • If the file is already open in another program, close the file and try to reference the hyperlink again.
