After you upgrade to Outlook Express and then uninstall Outlook Express to revert to your previous version of Outlook Express, the Outlook Express 5 icons remain on the desktop.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain Outlook Express 5.5.

WORKAROUND
To restore the appropriate Outlook Express icon:
- Right-click the Outlook Express icon on the desktop, and then click Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, click Change Icon.
- Click the appropriate icon, and then click OK.
- Click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5.
