When reverting to Outlook 98 after installing Outlook 2000, all messages that were sent with digital security may be empty and contain an unreadable attachment. Additonally, the icons have also changed and if you attempt to send a message with digital security you get the following error message:
The CSP Signature does not match the CSP installed. You need to update your security system, contact your administrator.
CAUSE
Security settings are not preserved when you remove Outlook 2000 and revert to Outlook 98.
RESOLUTION
Run Outlook 98 Setup and select Reinstall all components.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
