OL2000: Inbox Assistant Rules Imported from Outlook Express Are Not Activated (223950)

SYMPTOMS

If you upgrade from Outlook Express version 4.0 or 5.0 to Outlook, and you choose to migrate items from Outlook Express, any Inbox Assistant rules that process messages based on a specific account are imported as Outlook rules, but they are not activated.

RESOLUTION

Manually activate the rules.

To Activate the Imported Rules

To manually activate the imported account-based rules:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Rules Wizard.
  2. In the Rules Wizard, in the Apply rules in the following order list, click to select the check box of the imported Outlook Express rule that you want to activate.
  3. Click OK.

To Apply the Rules on Current Messages

To apply the imported rules on messages currently in the Inbox:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Rules Wizard.
  2. In the Rules Wizard, click Run Now. All of the check boxes for rules in the Select Rules to Run list are clear.
  3. Click to select the check box of the rule that you want to manually run. Click Run Now. After the operation is finished, click Close.
