OL2000: ReportItem.Body Returns Empty String (223906)

SYMPTOMS

You try to programmatically retrieve the contents of a delivery receipt, or ReportItem, but the Body property does not contain any information.

CAUSE

The information stored in the body of the ReportItem is not actually stored in the PR_BODY MAPI property. Outlook consolidates this information from various other MAPI properties and displays it in the main portion of the delivery receipt.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Outlook 2002.
