OL2000: Font Changes When Changing Message Formats (223878)

SYMPTOMS

If you compose a Plain Text formatted message and then change the message format to HTML or Outlook Rich Text format, the font changes in the body of the message to Arial 10 point (pt) for Outlook Rich Text and Times New Roman 10 pt for HTML. This occurs even if you specify a different default message font.

RESOLUTION

You must manually change the font back. On the Format menu, click Font and select the desired font.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

To set a default message font:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and on the Mail Format tab, click Fonts.
  2. Change the When composing a new message to another font (other than Arial 10 pt), by clicking Choose Font, and selecting a font from the list.
  3. Change the When replying and forwarding to another font (other than Arial 10 pt), by clicking Choose Font, and selecting a font from the list.
  4. Change the When composing and reading plain text to another font (other than Courier New), by clicking Choose Font, and selecting a font from the list.
  5. Click OK, and OK, to apply your changes.
