Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 Causes Commerce Server 2.0 to Fail (223768)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Commerce Server 2.0
This article was previously published under Q223768 SYMPTOMS
When you apply Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4) to a computer running Microsoft Commerce Server 2.0, important functionality, such as the ability to use the Commerce Host Administrator to manage existing sites or create new sites, may fail.
Symptoms that may occur in the Commerce Host Administrator include the following:
- On the Host Administrator Default.asp page, there are no stores listed and a status of invalid is indicated.
- When you attempt to create a store foundation, a "-2147024809" error occurs.
CAUSE
SP4 was not included in the test matrix for Commerce Server 2.0, and Commerce Server 2.0 was designed to work with ADO 1.1. Because SP4 updates a system to ADO 2.0, running Commerce Server 2.0 on a Windows NT SP4 installation may cause unpredictable results.
WORKAROUND
Microsoft Product Support recommends that you do not upgrade computers running Commerce Server 2.0 to Windows NT SP4. If Windows NT SP4 is installed, an uninstall of Windows NT SP4, or a rebuild of the computer to a Windows NT SP3 configuration is the only supported workaround.
