With this option, you can use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, click About Microsoft Outlook on the Help menu. If you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation, you see "Corporate or Workgroup".

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Send To Mail Recipient command in Microsoft Word 2000, to send a document to a recipient who does not use Outlook, but the e-mail client is either Rich Text (RTF) or HTML-compatible, the heading style formatting in the document does not display correctly.

For example, if you apply the Heading 1 style to a paragraph in your Word document, the text is formatted as Arial Bold, 16-point. When this is viewed in the Microsoft Exchange Client, the same text appears as Arial Bold, 18-point, with extra space before and after the paragraph.

CAUSE

The text format converter in the recipient's e-mail client does not correctly interpret the formatting used in the Word document.

WORKAROUND

Send the document as an attachment in an Outlook message.
