OL2000: (CW) X.400 Template Not Available in Contacts Distribution List (223556)

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to create a new X.400 entry for a contact distribution list (DL), using the Add New command on the DL form, you are not presented with a template to add this item when you select the Add New command.

WORKAROUND

Add the X.400 address entry individually to a contact, and then add it to the DL.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

NOTE: The following steps assume that a DL exists in the Contacts folder.

To add the X.400 address entry to a contact DL, follow these steps:
  1. On the File menu, click New, and then click Contact.
  2. In the Contact form, on the Tools menu, click Address Book. In Select Name, click New, and then in New Entry, click to select In This Message Only. In the Select the Entry Type list, click X.400 Address. Click OK.
  3. In New X.400 Address Properties, complete all fields for the recipient and then click OK, OK, and OK, to complete the addition of the recipient.
  4. Double-click the Outlook DL and then click Add Members. Select the X.400 recipient, and then click Save the Contact DL.
