The following example code displays a message box telling you whether the check box is selected or not selected. This code is designed to run as an On Exit macro assigned to a check box.

Sub GetCheckBoxValue()
   If Selection.FormFields("check1").Result = True Then
      MsgBox "Box Checked"
   '< Type code to execute if box is checked.>
    Else
      MsgBox "Box is Not Checked"
   '< Type code to execute if box is not checked.>
   End If
End Sub
				

NOTE: When using the Result property with the check box, the value returned is a "1" for True and a "0" for False.

    x = ActiveDocument.FormFields("Check1").Result
    MsgBox x
				

As an alternative to the above example code, you can use the Value property to check the result. The following code example uses the Value property:

If ActiveDocument.FormFields("check1").CheckBox.Value = True Then
    MsgBox "Box Checked"
Else
    MsgBox "Box is Not Checked"
