ACC2000: Filter By Selection Does Not Work on Data Access Page When Some Controls Have the Focus (223231)

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

When you select a control on a data access page, the Filter By Selection button may be available, but the data is not filtered when you click this button.

CAUSE

You experience this problem on a page when you click the Filter By Selection button while an image, option group, or scrolling text (marquee) control has the focus.

RESOLUTION

Before you click the Filter By Selection button, select a different type of control, such as a text box.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.
  2. In the Database window, click Pages under Objects, and then click New.
  3. In the New Data Access Page box, click Design View, click the Categories table in the Choose the table or query where the object's data comes from box, and then click OK.
  4. If the toolbox is not displayed, click Toolbox on the View menu.
  5. If the Field List box is not displayed, click Field List on the View menu.
  6. In the toolbox, click Option Group, and then drag CategoryID from the Categories table in the Field List box as an option group.
  7. In the toolbox, click Text Box, and then drag CategoryName from the Categories table in the Field List box as a text box.
  8. Open the page in Page view.
  9. Click the option group.
  10. Click Filter By Selection. Note that nothing happens when you click this button.
