Bookshelf 2000 includes the following new features and updated content.

New Features

  • Bookshelf 2000 displays a letter from the editor when you start the program for the first time.

  • A drop-down button between the Back and Forward buttons on the Bookshelf 2000 menu bar lists up to 19 items you have opened during the current session and enables you to return to any of these items with a single mouse click.

  • The Microsoft Word toolbar contains a Bookshelf button that starts Bookshelf 2000 directly from Word.

Updated Content

  • The Timeline feature has been updated to include events occurring through November, 1998.

  • Articles have been updated to include content current through December 31, 1998 (about six months more recent than the content included in Bookshelf 99).
The following differences exist between Bookshelf 2000 and Bookshelf 99.

  • Bookshelf 2000 does not play an introductory animation.

  • The Bookshelf 2000 menu bar does not contain the Suite menu (a menu that enabled you to start another Encarta Reference Suite 99 program directly from Boookshelf).

  • Bookshelf 2000 installs Macromedia Shockwave Director 7.0 if a later version is not already installed on your computer.
