SYMPTOMS

When you set up a custom page size using the Hewlett-Packard ColorSmart 9.3.2, 9.4, or 9.4.2 driver, the page appears to be set up properly in Word print preview, but everything is moved over as if it was printing on a letter-size page. If you check Preview on the print screen, the preview shows the text adjusted on a letter-size page. When it prints, there is a wide margin on the left, and the text is cut off on the right.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do the following:
  1. Click File. Click Page Setup.
  2. Under Media Size, click the drop-down list. Click Add Custom.
  3. Type a name for the Custom Size.
  4. Type the correct height and width.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Print.
  7. Click Preview.

The page size now appears to be correct in Preview. The page also prints correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
