Err Msg: Unable to Find Function "DLLRegisterServer" in File C:\Winnt\System32\Comcat.dll (223028)

SYMPTOMS

When you start your computer the first time after you install Internet Explorer, you may receive any of the following error messages:
Unable to find function "DLLRegisterServer" in file
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\COMCAT.DLL.
Error occurred calling "DLLRegisterServer" in
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\ASCTRLS.OCX (HRESULT=80004005).
Error occurred calling "DLLRegisterServer" in
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DAXCTLE.OCX (HRESULT=80004005).
Also no version information may be displayed when you click About Internet Explorer on the Help menu.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Comcat.dll file is damaged or the wrong version number.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, rename the Comcat.dll file in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder, and then reinstall Internet Explorer.

If you remove Internet Explorer before reinstalling, be sure to rename The Comcat.dll file after removing Internet Explorer.
