SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia 99 included with Microsoft Works Suite 99, you may receive the following error message:
Launcher caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:00000009.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:

  • You installed Encarta Encyclopedia 99 using the Works Suite 99 Setup Launcher.

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 is installed on the computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, click OK to continue installing Encarta Encyclopedia 99.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works Suite 99.

After you receive this error message and click OK, Encarta Encyclopedia 99 is installed correctly.
