This article was previously published under Q222898 SYMPTOMS
When you use Windows NT Server 4.0 as a print server, all the Windows NT clients during a period of about three days may lose the connection to the print server simultaneously and receive the following error message:
Illegal Operation
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, configure the print server to spool the last page before printing. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the print server, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
- Right-click the printer you want to configure, and then click Properties.
- On the Scheduling tab, click Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster, and then click Start printing after last page is spooled.
- Click OK.
MORE INFORMATION
Every client computer is disconnected whether the client is printing or not.
The Event Logs on the print server and client computers do not report anything about losing a connection.
