This article was previously published under Q222516 SYMPTOMS
During Setup from a network share with the Typical Networking Settings option selected and DHCP, DNS, or WINS selected, you are prompted to change your address from dynamic to static. If you do so, Setup may stop responding (hang).
CAUSE
When you change your IP address, the connection from the old IP address is closed, and a new one is opened. During the changeover, network-based Setup may time out and hang.
RESOLUTION
To prevent this problem from occurring, change from a dynamic to a static address after Setup is finished.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
