"Error 3: The System Cannot Find the Path Specified" Starting FPNW (222486)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start File and Print Services for NetWare (FPNW) on a Windows 2000 server, you may receive the following error message:
Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified

CAUSE

This message typically occurs when you attempt to start FPNW while the Spooler service is stopped. Because FPNW has a dependency on the Spooler service, FPNW cannot be started while the Spooler service is stopped.

RESOLUTION

Make certain that the Spooler service is started before starting FPNW.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
