ACC2000: Illegal Operation Selecting Controls on a Form (222457)

SYMPTOMS

If you try to select multiple controls in different sections of a form, you may receive the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the following:
MSACCESS caused an invalid page fault in module MSACCESS.EXE at 015f:300b8615.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this problem, select controls within only a single section at a time.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.
  2. In the Database window, click Forms under Objects.
  3. Click Customer Phone List, and then click Design.
  4. In the form footer section, click the A button.
  5. Hold down the SHIFT key and click CompanyNameLabel.
