The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q222369

SYMPTOMS

In your migration plan, you decide to continue using Microsoft Outlook 98. After installing Microsoft Office 2000 and reinstalling Outlook 98, you find that templates available when you used Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor are not available. The Template Picker list is empty.

CAUSE

In Outlook 2000, when you use Word as your e-mail editor, themes are used to define the visual appearance that the Document Template did previously.

RESOLUTION

The templates that you used previously were supplied with Office 97. You may still use these templates, but they must be selected by browsing to their location.

MORE INFORMATION

To use templates with Word as your e-mail editor, follow these steps:
  1. Save the e-mail templates on the computer with the Office 2000 installation. The folder is not critical.
  2. Start Outlook if it is not running. On the Tools menu, click Options and then click the Mail Format tab.
  3. Click to select Microsoft Word from the Send in this message format list.
  4. In WordMail Templates, click Template Picker. Browse to the location where you saved the templates in Step 1. Click the template and then click Select.
The template you defined will be used when you create a new message with Word as your e-mail editor.
