OL2000: Fatal Error When You Quit Outlook Following SMS Uninstall (222350)

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Server Management System (SMS) to do a quiet uninstall of Outlook while Outlook is running, when you quit Outlook you may receive a fatal system error.

CAUSE

SMS does not close Outlook before running the uninstall routine.

RESOLUTION

Following the system error, restart the computer. Notice that Outlook has been properly removed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
