SYMPTOMS

If you use the /select command-line switch with Outlook, you may receive the following error message:
The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using.
For example, the following command-line results in the above error message:

Outlook /select Outbox

CAUSE

You are using the /select command-line switch incorrectly.

RESOLUTION

Use the following syntax for the /select command-line switch to open an Outlook folder:

Outlook.exe /select outlook:Calendar

Note: In the above example you are opening your default Calendar folder.
