OL2000: Attachment Lost When Dragging Item to an Unlike Folder (222333)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q222333

SYMPTOMS

If you drag an item containing an attachment to a folder of a different type, an item of the new type is created but the attachment is not copied.

RESOLUTION

Copy the attachment to the new item after it is created.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

If you drag an e-mail message, that contains an attachment, to a Task folder, a new task with the same Subject as the mail message will be created. This task will contain the header and text of the mail message, but will not contain the attachment.

The attachment must be moved separately, either by copying and pasting from the mail message to the task item, or by opening both the mail message and the task item, positioning them side by side, and dragging the attachment from the mail message to the task item.
