OL2000: (CW) Rule Does Not Persist When Moving From PST to Microsoft Exchange Folder (222307)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Organize command to create a rule to move a message from a personal folders (.pst) Inbox, to a folder on the Microsoft Exchange Server, the target folder is not persistent and the rule does not run after the initial execution.

RESOLUTION

Create the rule using the Rules Wizard on the Tools menu, rather than the Organize command.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem only occurs if you are using a .pst-based Inbox as your default delivery location, and you are moving items from there to a folder located on your Exchange Server store.

To Create a Rule Using the Rules Wizard

  1. Open the message you want the rule to act on.
  2. On the Actions menu, click Create Rule.
  3. Follow the Rules Wizard to create the rule to move the item to the desired folder.
