SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to configure a new modem while running the Symantec Fax Starter Addition Setup Wizard, your computer may stop responding.

RESOLUTION

Install a new modem before running the Symantec Fax Starter Addition Setup Wizard. To do so, double-click the Modems icon in the Control Panel, or allow Windows to automatically detect and install the modem by double-clicking the Add New Hardware icon in Control Panel.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
