OL2000: No Printer Selection Printing from Print Preview (222244)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q222244

SYMPTOMS

Under some circumstances, the option to select a printer name in the Print dialog box may not be available. This can occur despite having more than one printer installed.

CAUSE

You entered the Print dialog box using the following steps:
  1. You opened your Inbox with the preview pane turned on. The message in the preview pane is formatted as HTML.
  2. On the File menu, you clicked Print Preview, and in the Print Preview dialog box you clicked Print.

    -or-

On the File menu, you clicked Print.
The above steps open the Print dialog box with the printer Name list not available (grayed). Using the above steps with other mail formats (not HTML), allows you to choose the printer name from those installed.

This behavior occurs with the Memo Style. Selecting the Table Style makes available the printer Name list so you can select different printers.

RESOLUTION

Use one of these methods to select a printer other than the default printer listed in the printer Name list.

Method 1

Double-click the HTML message to open it, and on the File menu, click Print. This will open the Print dialog box allowing you to select the name from the list of installed printers.

Method 2

In the Print dialog box, click to select the Table Style, change printers, and then click to switch back to the Memo Style to specify a printer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
