SUMMARY

As of June 23rd, 1999, Microsoft will stop producing hotfixes and service packs for Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0. The following MCIS 1.0 components are affected:
  • Commercial Internet System Mail Server (Mail)
  • Commercial Internet System News Server (News)
  • Content Replication System (CRS)
  • Internet Address Book Server (ABS)
  • Internet Chat Server (Chat)
  • Internet Locator Server (ILS)
  • Membership System (MBSE)
  • Membership System Broker (MBSR)
  • Membership System Authentication Proxy for Netscape
  • Personalization System (MPS)
  • Member Sign-up

MORE INFORMATION

Although no more hotfixes or service packs will be produced for MCIS 1.0 as of June 23rd, 1999, technical support will continue until MCIS 1.0 is deemed obsolete. Products are deemed obsolete from a support perspective when the volume of calls has been insignificant for a period of six months or more. MCIS 1.0 has not been deemed obsolete at this time.
