SYMPTOMS

When you run Microsoft Windows 98 Setup to upgrade your Windows 95-based computer, you may receive the following error message:
Win98setup executed an Illegal Instruction in Module V128IID.drv
Also, you may receive similar error messages that refer to the V128iid.drv file in Windows Explorer and Microsoft Internet Explorer before you upgrade.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you are using an out-of-date video driver for your STB Velocity 4400 (AGP or PCI) video adapter. Some drivers for this video adapter are not totally compatible with Windows 98 and Windows 95.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact the manufacturer of your video adapter to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue before trying to upgrade to Windows 98.
