Extra Quick Launch Toolbar Icons After Internet Explorer 5 Upgrade (221862)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade to Internet Explorer 5, there may be additional Microsoft Outlook Express and Internet Explorer icons on the Quick Launch toolbar.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you upgrade a localized version of Internet Explorer 4.01 to the English version of Internet Explorer 5, or if you upgrade an English version of Internet Explorer 4.01 to a localized version of Internet Explorer 5.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, right-click one of the additional icons on the Quick Launch toolbar, and then click Delete. Repeat this process for each additional icon.

STATUS

Installing an English version of Internet Explorer over a localized version of Internet Explorer is not supported by Microsoft. Installing a localized version of Internet Explorer over a English version of Internet Explorer is also not supported.
