This article was previously published under Q221807 SYMPTOMS
When you use either Microsoft Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook in Internet Only mode, one network connection to a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) version 2.0 server is not closed after you perform a Find People search. This issue results in multiple open connections on the LDAP server.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the LDAP search component attempts a connection to the LDAP server using the LDAP version 3 protocol. A server using LDAP version 2 responds with a protocol error since it does not support LDAP version 3. The search component then opens another Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) connection to the server and binds to it, but does not close the first connection.
