XL: Publishing Cells with Spilled Text Creates Merged Cells (221492)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 2000
- Microsoft Excel 2002
This article was previously published under Q221492 SYMPTOMS
When you publish a Web page in Microsoft Excel and then reopen the page, cells which contained spilled text (more text than could fit in one cell) become merged cells.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you publish a selected range of cells as HTML, instead of saving the entire workbook as HTML.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, click Entire Workbook in the Save As dialog box, instead of clicking Selection or Publish. Unlike the Publish feature, the Save Entire Workbook feature is designed to "roundtrip" all data, formulas, and cell formatting.
