OFF2000: Task Scheduler Is Turned On After Installing Office (221437)

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade to Office 2000, the Task Scheduler may be started. This occurs even if the Task Scheduler was turned off prior to installing Office.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you install Office and you choose to install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, or you already have Internet Explorer 5 installed.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, turn off the Task Scheduler after you install Office. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the Task Scheduler icon on the taskbar.
  2. Click Open.
  3. On the Advanced menu, click Stop Using Task Scheduler.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
