WD2000: Menus and Toolbars Disappear in Document That Contains Control (221412)

When you open and close documents (or press ALT+TAB to move between open documents), and one of your documents contains a Control Toolbox control, all of the toolbars and menus in the Word window that contains the control may disappear.
When you attempt to close the affected document, you receive one of the following error messages: Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details (on Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, press ALT+D), you receive the following message: WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in WINWORD.EXE at 301a391f.
NOTE: The actual memory address may vary.

An application error has occurred and an application error log is being
generated.

Microsoft Windows 2000:
WINWORD.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created.
To view the error log, point to Search on the Windows Start menu, and then click For Files or Folders. In the Search for files and folders named box, type drwtsn32.log and then click Search Now. After the file is found, right-click Drwtsn32 ( Drwtsn32.log), and then click Open on the shortcut menu that appears.
This problem is known to occur with the following control:
- Microsoft Office PivotTable 9.0
WORKAROUND
To display the toolbars and menus, click in the Word document to inactivate the object. After the object is inactivated, the toolbars and menus in Microsoft Word appear. However, when you attempt to close the document, Word may display the error message that is listed in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
